  • EDU115 Teaching Methods for the Primary Curriculum is designed to provide student teachers with a variety of teaching skills and classroom experiences to plan relevant learning situations and to engage learners at the primary level in meaningful learning tasks. Student teachers will use the national primary curriculum, design relevant instructional aids and utilize both the inductive and deductive models of teaching to effectively plan for, implement, and assess student learning. During the course, Students are required to observe actual teaching practice or video recordings and submit classroom evaluations
  • Fundamentals of Linguistics introduces the study of language. It explores concepts and theories of various areas of linguistics including phonology, orthography, morphology, etymology, syntax, semantics and language acquisition. It examines the spoken and written forms of language varieties in the Belizean and global context.
  • Reading Strategies for the Multilingual Classroom will explore the impact the diversity of Belize’s languages has on the education system and, in particular, how this affects the teaching of literacy. Student teachers will be exposed to and have opportunities to practice a variety of techniques for teaching literacy to students whose first language is not English.
  • Intro to the Primary Curriculum is enables student-teachersto explore the theoretical framework and components of the school curriculum. The course will survey some practical strategies to enhance the integration and implementation of all areas of study stipulated in the New National Comprehensive Primary School Curriculum in Belize.
